Nederland Lions Club participates in the Lions International "Recycle For Sight" program by collecting used eyeglasses. Once used glasses have been collected, they are scanned to determine the optics of each pair, cleaned and sorted by prescription. They are then distributed to various organizations who distribute them in the U.S. and around the world to people that do not have access to glasses. Used hearing aids may also be dropped off in the eyeglass collection box.
Used sunglasses and readers are available to local residents
at our Lions information booth at the Nederland Farmers Market or upon request.
What to donate:
Good used eyeglasses, Rx and non Rx sunglasses

We do NOT need cases, lenses only, frames only

Nederland Lions and Lafayette Lions Clubs spent a day volunteering together at the Colorado Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center (COLERC) preparing glasses for mission trips This is the next step after donated glasses are sorted at the club level.
Any community members who would be interested in joining us are more than welcome when we plan our next volunteer day or half day at COLERC.

Sorting Donated Eyeglasses
Nederland Lions had fun sorting over 2,000 pairs of donated eyeglasses in February! Of those, approximately 1,500 were in great condition and will be repurposed, 300 will be recycled, and 200 pairs of sunglasses and readers will stay in our community to be shared at local events for anyone who needs them.
